The way we begin our morning affects us throughout the day greatly. If you start off your mornings on a positive note, the tone for an awesome day ahead will be set. In this era where everyone is busy and leading hectic lives, you get stressed out with the daily grind. To be at the top of your game, you need to stay motivated and positive. Here are 5 ways you can kick-start your day and turn it into a positive one.

  1. Be an early riser

Waking up early in the morning gives you a lot of control of your time because you are not rushing and stressing over getting to school or work. You can do everything at a relaxed pace, enjoy the birds chirping in the morning, and be in a Zen state. If you wake up early, you will notice that you aren’t bombarded with different things at once and this way you don’t forget anything in the process as well.

 

  1. Have breakfast

Never forget the most important meal of the day. Get your energy levels high rising by having a healthy and balanced breakfast that fills you up with nutrients for your body and mind. Studies suggest that people who have good breakfast are more likely to be productive throughout the day, and they don’t tend to snack often because they are full.

 

  1. Get moving

The best exercise is the one you can do in the morning. So after you have had your breakfast, head out and get some fresh air and go jog in the park. You can also do some yoga in the backyard or any form of movement that energizes your body.  Just have your breakfast half an hour before you exercise.  Exercising on an empty stomach will make you tired easily and you will end up having a really heavy breakfast. Try to exercise outdoors so that you are connected with nature. Alternately, you can run an exercise DVD and do your workout at home.

 

  1. Meditation

The best DIY therapy you can do for yourself is meditation.  In as little as 5-10 minutes you can gain so much energy and calmness that you will hardly feel stressed out during the day. Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety levels in the body. Just make a quiet space for yourself, clear your mind and think happy thoughts. Visualize things that make you happy in life. Meditation also works great as part of your daily me-time, and removes any negative energy surrounding you.

 

  1. Positive affirmations

Before heading out to start your day, repeat some positive affirmations to yourself. You can say them out loud or write them down. Look at yourself in the mirror and say at least 3 positive things about yourself or your life. e.g. “I look good today”, “I feel so grateful for everything I have in life” or “I’m open to all the love in this world”.
